Server: Enabling Color Cards

Color Cards can be enabled for both Kanban and SCRUM boards available through Jira Software server. Color codes defined in the Board Administration screen are visible in Kanban boards, Kanban Backlogs, SCRUM Backlogs, and Active Sprint boards.

To enable Color Cards on your board, click “Board” at the top of the screen, and click “Configure”:

Navigate to “Color Cards” on the left hand side, as shown in the figure below. By default, “None” is selected, meaning Color Cards has not been enabled in your board.

By selecting any of the criteria in the Drop Down “Colors based on”, you will enable Color Cards for your board. To disable Color Cards for your board, simply select “None”. Below is a sample of a Kanban board with Color Cards enabled:

A sample of a Sprint Backlog with colors enabled is also provided below:

This will only enable colors for the board you have specified. This does not implement the same colors for every board. After you select a criteria for your board, simply return to the board to see your colors!

Need to change your colors? Not a problem! Simply navigate to the Color Cards page in the Board Administration screen, and select a new color.

When selecting colors, select lighter colors to avoid missing / losing text visibility or images associated with a card.
